Buying land on Moon

Stephen Hawking once said he has no doubt there will be lunar colonies in the next 60 years. NASA researchers have loaded similar estimates but the Internet already has now several online agencies offering lunar land for cheap. There is Lunar Land that offer $29 an acre, Lunar Registry from $18.85 an acre to $37.50 an acre for a property on the sea of Transquility, the moons most prestigious location and Lunar Embassy moon estates for $19 an acre.

Can you buy land on moon

History....

The moon land craze started in earliest 1980 when Dennis Hope claimed to have found a way for people to own land plots legally on planets or other celestial bodies other than earth.

The Outer Space Treaty prohibits governments and countries ( around 130+) from owning the moon land but says nothing about individuals. Running with this belief Hope not only founded Lunar Embassy but went on to issue fines to the United States, the United Nations, and then the Soviet Union for offenses in outer space including littering for all space junk astronauts and cosmonauts had left behind.

But even in 1980, the Lunar Land claim was not a new idea. In 1936 A Dean Lindsay of Pennsylvania tried to have a deed to the entirety of space officially notarized.

Then came James Thomas Mangan self-titled creator of a future colony called Celestia, who tried unsuccessfully to apply for an interplanetary seat in the United Nations in 1948. Now that lunar colonies no longer seem so far off the stakes have been raised.

Other than having a deed to a little of the heavens to impress your neighbors, there may be a good reason to stake a lunar claim.

Scientists in China declared an interest in mining the moon for its large deposits of helium-3, a non-radioactive
An isotope that would be a valuable clean energy source for earth dwellers. There is hardly any helium-3 on earth but the moon has literal tons to spare.

Gregory Luce an attorney and editor of the legal blog - The Bitter Lawyer doesn't believe that the outer Space Treaty loophole means anyone can actually have true ownership over moon land. To sell land one should have official authority to transfer land deed and the proper ownership paperwork of the land.

Can you really buy a piece of the moon?

Question of "Can you buy a piece of Moon'" is No, as the International treaty essentially states that all forms of outer space exploration (which includes lunar exploration) are and will be for the benefit of all mankind. It also explicitly states that no individual can purchase a piece of lunar land and call it his or her own. This means Lunar Land Registry and buying land for private ownership of the moon is impossible and illegal, as per the Outer Space Treaty of several nations. But, there are still agencies like The Lunar Registry who are allegedly selling the celestial land and there are a few Indians like Rajeev V Bagdhi and Sushant Singh Rajput who have bought the lunar land from such portals.

Conclusion

Buying this type of moon land is just a thing of fascination nothing else. What is the use of this type of land where you can't go and see your land, And that too a virtual land.
Not makes a good sense.
